Maryland: The Big Green Service MachineMaryland's 11th Annual Service-Learning Conference
Student ForumsAlthough one of the key characteristics of quality service-learning is student involvement, we often neglect to find out how students regard their service-learning experiences. Many times we hear from teachers, counselors, and other service-learning practitioners about the power of service-learning, but we forget to ask the students. On March 6th we are changing that. During this breakout session, one facilitator will engage students to share their opinions, experiences, and future suggestions for quality service-learning. The Maryland Student Service Alliance will then distribute this valuable information to principals, teachers, and administrators across the state so they can improve service-learning in all of Maryland's schools. This is an opportunity for students to have a voice and share their ideas without being challenged or debated by a room full of adults. At last, we are giving our students the microphone and listening to their suggestions.
